Copenhagen is the capital of Denmark and with 1,199,224 inhabitants in 2011 the country's largest metropolitan area. The Danish capital is also the center of the Øresund region that includes Malmö. Copenhagen is situated on Zealand's east coast and extends into the areas of Amager in the east. A number of bridges and a tunnel connecting the boroughs of Zealand and Amager. Since 2000, Copenhagen and Malmö have been connected by the Øresund connection.

In Copenhagen, Denmark's central institutions like the Parliament, the monarchy, the Supreme Court and the state central administration. The city is the nation's cultural and financial center and an important gateway to Denmark's largest airport and rail yard, and one of the largest ports in the region.

Copenhagen is home to many large businesses and cultural institutions such as AP Moller-Maersk, Carlsberg, park, National Museum and Opera.

Copenhagen is a climate zone characterized by the warm Gulf Stream. This means that Copenhagen is approx. 5 degrees warmer than the city's latitude would indicate otherwise. At the same time, the city also in an area where the Atlantic low pressure passes. This means that the weather in all four seasons are relatively unstable with changing rain and sun.

Capital Region is rich in nature, culture and history. Historic castles, numerous museums and breathtaking scenery, consisting of forests, sea, beach and inlet are generously scattered throughout the area. Throughout the region there is a short distance from all the different sights. It offers countless combinations of many nice day trips or longer trips.

As such Fredensborg Castle, which still today is the royal couple's most used residence. Fredensborg Castle Garden is one of the largest and best preserved baroque gardens. Or Køge Bay is a gem for both nature lovers and history buffs. Køge already received city status in 1288 and Denmark's best-preserved half-timbered houses.
