London is the capital of England and the United Kingdom. London is byregionen with the highest population in the United Kingdom. With its location along the River Thames has been a central London City since it was founded by the Romans for two millennia ago under the name of Londinium. London's original city centre, the City of London is England's smallest town. The city's nominal Center is at Charing Cross, just off Trafalgar Square. London has a temperate climate with regular, light rain throughout the year. London is considered among one of the world's financial "command centres", along with, among others, New York City and Tokyo.

In the City of Westminster is the West End, the area is located around Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus, and is London's main entertainment district. London is considered one of the foremost musical and Theatre City in the world. The two-kilometre-long Upper Street in Islington has more bars and restaurants than any other street in the United Kingdom.

Oxford Street is regarded to as Europe's busiest shopping street. With a length of almost 2 km, it can also be said to be the world's longest shopping street. The great ethnic range in the city's population means that one can find food from most of the world's countries. Some areas have become gastronomic centers, such as Chinatown, with its many Chinese restaurants, with many Bangladeshi Brick Lane and Edgware Road with many Lebanese and Arab restaurants. Traditional English pubs can be found everywhere in the city.

There are many yearly festivals and events such as the Carnival in Notting Hill, the Lord Mayor's Show and the Trooping the Colour to name a few. London is one of the world's musikkhovedsteder, both in the field of classical music and modern music forms.

Attractions in London is the Palace of Westminster, which houses the Parliament, and includes the famous clock tower with the clock "Big Ben", St. Paul's Cathedral, the City of London, Tower Bridge, one of the world's most distinctive bridges. The Tower of London, a former royal residence and prison, Buckingham Palace, the current residence of the British Royal House. The British Museum, one of the world's most famous museums, the Imperial War Museum, Madame Tussaud's wax cabin, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abbey, London Zoo, Portobello Road Market, the Tate Gallery, The London Dungeon, The London Eye, the Ferris wheel that stretch all the 135 metres up in the air, and Big ben.
